Kaiserpfalz

Kaiserpfalz Goslar

The majestic imperial palace, built between 1040 and 1050, is a must for every Goslar visitor. For over 200 years, German history was written here at numerous Reich assemblies and court congresses. Almost at the same time as the imperial palace, Henry III had the collegiate church of St. Simon and Judas built at its feet.

The church, which had fallen into disrepair, was demolished in 1820 and only its entrance hall remained. The Kaiserpfalz also hosts numerous concerts and top-class events such as the Kaiserring awards ceremony.

Here you will find 3 places of interest! In the center of the market place stands the market fountain, which carries the landmark of Goslar, the eagle. The lower bronze bowl was cast in the 12th century and is thus the largest bronze casting of the Romanesque period.

The market fountain is surrounded by the bell and figure game at the market and the town hall with the hall of homage. The bell and figure game was donated in 1968 on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of the Rammelsberg mining industry.

The construction of the town hall began in the middle of the 15th century with the east wing.
